Phillips, Irna
(1 jul. 1901, Chicago, Ill., EE.UU.–22 dic. 1973, Chicago).

Productora y directora de radio estadounidense. Trabajó como profesora antes de dedicarse a escribir libretos para la radio y crear la primera radionovela (ver telenovela o radionovela), Painted Dreams (1930). Posteriormente fue reconocida como "La reina de las radionovelas, al introducir técnicas como el uso del órgano, para enlazar de forma continua y fluida las escenas con incierto desenlace al final de cada episodio. Entre sus series de radio diurnas se cuentan Today's Children (1933–38, 1943–50); The Guiding Light (1937–56; televisión, 1952); Road of Life (1937–59) y Women in White (1938–42, 1944–48), la primera serial de radio que abordó el quehacer en un hospital. También creó las series de televisión As the World Turns (1956) y Another World (1964).
